3SGE Red Top Beams build with ROTREX C30-94 Super Charger
While designing my build one of the major considerations was to retain the Air Conditioner and Not play around with the basic concept of the engine.
Having said that, it was necessary that I would be able to get someone to build all the necessary pulleys to drive the system. There would be no compromise in changing the crankshaft pulley from a balanced unit to a solid mount.
Having searched for months and all around the world I stumbled across ROSS BALANCERS and they are in my backyard! N.S.W Australia to be precise.
I immediately contact Ross regarding my build .
The crankshaft pulley had to incorporate the Harmonic Balancer.
That’s how Toyota designed it.
Without it this project would never off gone ahead.
Yes was replied to all my questions.
What a great guy, someone with dedication, knowledge and experience. His team is truly a profession group, from concept to design to machining to finishing. He catered to all my design specifications. The machining is outstanding and flawless.
All the pulleys were made by them. They all incorporate shoulders so as to align the belts. The section of the crankshaft pulley that drives the Super Charger is solid mount to avoid any movement, whereas the front section has the harmonic balancer that drives the alternator and air conditioner.
The air conditioner pulley was extended as was the alternator one. The remachined idlers also had new extended pins machined so as to align the belts perfectly he super charger pulley was machined to a smaller diameter to take full advantage of the awesome power the Rotrex can deliver.
This is definitely a Job well done. I am truly proud to have their logo on my pulleys. Many thanks to Ross and his team for helping me achieve all my design goals. What a great Australian!

A qualified Mechanical Engineer, Ross Clothier is the colourful character behind ROSS Tuffbond who started out in the NSW Railways workshop in 1966 as a Fitter & Machinist, joined the Sydney Water Police, and then combined the two by producing handbuilt speed boat parts in the early ’70′s.
From there Ross moved into a maintenance job at a rubber factory, where he was led into designing Harmonic Balancers which wouldn’t slip when used on race engines.
