Simple fix for power steering belt problems on the Nissan RB engine

We have manufactured a simple fix for power steering belt problems on the Nissan RB engine range.

How does it work?

The distance between the power steering pulley and the crank shaft pulley is nearly halved, not allowing the powersteering belt to get the huge whip up as they do on these engines thus preventing the belt from walking off the pulleys.

This simple mounted idler pulley fits directly under the power steering adjuster bracket along with a spacer to make up the difference in the offset to the adjuster screw lock.

Belt Drive and Timing Pulley Systems

There are three main systems that most engines require to continue operating efficiently.

1/ lubrication.

2/cooling

3/electrical.

All three are either gear or belt driven. Most modern engines use the latter for ease of operation and flexibility and durability. Today the most common belts systems used are a single or multiple belt with a compact spring loaded tensioner. They come in a range of widths and number of vees.

Some of the common terms for these belts are multi rib, serpentine belt.

They are used where timing or positive drive are not issues, for instance water pump, alternator or air conditioning, whereas the drives for oil pumps or camshafts cannot afford any slip.

This introduces the next type of drive belt, the toothed belt. They come in a number of profiles and tooth sizes and offer a positive non slip drive.
