Alloy Power steering idler kit

The Alloy Power Steering idler kit comes loosely assembled ready for you to set the idler pulley offset to suit your power steering pump offset.

Alloy Power steering idler kit

“This power steering pulley and idler set up was used by drifters at the japanese performance centre in perth at a recent track day, they went through 4 sets of tyres over the 7 gruelling hours of testing and did not lose a power steering belt they were stopped finally buy a broken gearbox. Engine used was a Nissan RB30 with a twin cam head in a sylvia.

Their comment ” we are extremely impressed”

Installation Instructions.

1/ Undo the power steering adjuster nut and locking screw, wind it to the fully out position and swing the pump up and out of the way.

2. Remove the 2 hex screws shown by the arrows that hold the power steering adjusting plate to the power steering mount bracket, then mount the alloy mounting plate on top of the adjuster bracket as seen in the above picture using the bolts supplied in our kit.

3. Fit the belt supplied by moving the power steering pump back down so the belt will slip over the pump pulley around the harmonic balancer pulley and under the idler pulley as shown in the above picture. By using hardened shims supplied adjust the idler pulley forward or backward so the belt is sitting in the middle of the idler pulley.

4. Use the correct Hex key, one in front and one in the rear of the idler pulley mounting, tighten the bolts that hold the pulley on the alloy plate.

5. Tighten the 2 hex bolts shown in the picture to 31nm.

6. Adjust the power steering belt using the normal adjuster nut and lock the assembly.

Crank trigger kits and Cam trigger kits

Over the years, not only racers but manufacturers have realized the benefits of positive crank angle sensing for triggering both spark and fuel delivery. The benefits of this method of sensing can be seen in back to back testing on engine and chasis dyno.

Depending on the amount of wear in the traditional components such as cam driven distributors, or as seen in some of the later model E.F.I. systems, the losses in performance in a petrol engine can be great.

We have experienced when tuning a Nissan RB26 on a chasis dyno, when after fitting a crank trigger wheel to the rigid component of a harmonic balancer or crank damper, and a cam sensor to the engine, we were able to advance the spark by 15 degrees with obvious gains in the horsepower seen @ the wheels.

You may ask how is this possible?

The installation of these parts allows the tuner to accurately adjust the spark maps and fuel maps because the pick up points are rigidly mounted on the crankshaft, whereas if you pick your signals up from camshaft driven devices the tuner has to deal with the slack in all of the driven parts such as timing belts, timing chains, gears, sprockets, splines, dowel pins and the list goes on.

Many people have experienced abnormal combustion pressures commonly known as Detonation or pinging and the full potential of the engine is unable to be realized. If these conditions are allowed to continue unchecked the result will be an engine failure or blow up.

The engineers at ROSS PERFORMANCE PARTS have completed full kits to suit Nissan Skyline RB engines.

Nissan SR20 VE engines and Nissan SR20 S13,14,15 engines.

We are working on other high performance engines to release to the public easy to fit crank trigger and cam sensor kits to suit the following engines, Honda B16 and B18 series engines.

All of our Metaljacket harmonic balancer and Race series harmonic balancer to suit the afore mentioned engines have removable trigger wheels that are designed to mount directly on the rear of our Metaljacket and Race series Harmonic balancer.

The kits include all mounting bolts, sensors, billet alloy mounting brackets, covers and where applicable cam drives and sensors. These kits are easily mounted using all the hardware supplied and require installation to the computer system by experienced and qualified electronic trades people.

1UZFE Harmonic balancer

This is a 2000 hp Harmonic balancer we have for use on serious race engines.

1UZFE Harmonic balancer

Our bonded Balancers never need rebuilding or pulling apart for a service. So with regard to the rubber side of things they are held together and dampened with a high quality, high tensile natural rubber.

The rest of the balancer is made from 2 materials, the hubs are made from a 40 tonne tensile carbon steel for turbo or N/A engines, we have an option for blown applications, this can be either 4340 steel, or Titanium.

The next feature is for accessory mounting. The front of all our balancers are also drilled with 6 x M8 which take a direct fit of one of our external oil pump drives or fuel pump drives . In some cases 6 x 3/8” UNF threads and either an external or internal spigot for location of other pullies . This 1UZFE  balancer has both allowing a 2 inch adaptor to drive a roots or PSI blower.
